Chichester Road Advisory Committee
Minutes of August 31, 2015
Attending: Allen Mayville, Jr., Mike Paveglio (ex-officio) Brian Eldridge, Guy Goodwin, Doug Hall, Jim Plunkett (Road Agent), Tom Jameson
Absent: Philip Hitchcock
Meeting opened at 6:35.
Doug Hall reported that Philip Hitchcock had sent an email today notifying everyone that he was resigning from the RAC. The committee now needs to elect a new Chairman.
A motion to elect Alan Mayville, Jr., as Chairman was made, seconded, and voted unanimously.
Jim Plunkett reported that traffic counts on some Chichester roads are being done this week. He also reported that “No Thru Trucking” signs have been ordered for King Road and Canterbury Road.
A motion to approve the minutes of the August 10 meeting was made, seconded, and voted unanimously.
Discussion then centered on the draft bid documents for the proposed project on Horse Corner Road for 2016. Jim will make a few small changes that were discussed. Discussion also centered on preparing bid documents for a second project.
It was decided that the RAC will meet on September 14 to review, finalize, and recommend that the Board of Selectmen solicit bids separately for two projects:
1) Reconstruction of segments 2,3,4,and 5 of Horse Corner Road, totaling 1.3 miles
2) Reconstruction of segment 3 and part of segment 2 of Bear Hill Road, totaling approximately 0.5 miles.
It was also decided to change the date resulting bids must be received from January 31, 2016 to November 16, 2015.
RAC members discussed whether to recommend adding maintenance back into the committee’s charge. Views both for and against were expressed and no decision was taken.
A motion to adjourn was made, seconded, and voted unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 7:30.
